Sticking and rubbing doors
Hinges tightened or shimmed, the door planed where needed and the edge sealed again.
Doors, trim & carpentry
Doors that stick, swing or won’t latch, new interior doors, baseboards and trim, fitted by a careful carpenter.

Doors and trim are where a house shows its age. Doors swell in the wet months and stick. Latches stop catching. Hinges sag so the door rubs at the top. Baseboards pull away from the wall, and old casing is chipped and dented from years of vacuum cleaners and furniture.
We do the finish carpentry that fixes all of that, in houses, townhouses and condos across Burnaby. We plane and adjust doors, replace hinges and hardware, hang new interior doors, and install baseboards, casing and crown moulding with tight joints and clean caulk lines, ready for paint.
What’s included
Hinges tightened or shimmed, the door planed where needed and the edge sealed again.
Strike plates adjusted, new handles, levers, privacy sets and door stops fitted.
Slab and pre-hung doors fitted, hung and adjusted to swing and close properly.
Bifold, bypass and barn-style doors installed or put back on track.
New or replacement baseboards and door casing, mitred, nailed, filled and caulked.
Crown moulding, wainscoting, window stools and simple shelving built in.

Good trim work is all in the details you only notice when they’re wrong: a gap at a mitre, a baseboard that follows a dip in the floor, a nail hole you can see through the paint. We cope inside corners, scribe baseboards to uneven floors, set nails below the surface, then fill, sand and caulk so it’s ready to paint.
If you’re replacing flooring, we can remove baseboards carefully before and reinstall or replace them after.
A sticking door usually has one of a few causes, and the fix depends on which one it is.

Many houses around Burnaby Heights, Capitol Hill, Deer Lake and South Slope were built between the 1950s and the 1980s. They often have original slab doors, narrow casing and baseboards that have been painted many times over. Updating doors, hardware and trim is one of the most noticeable improvements you can make without a renovation.
In newer townhouses and condos, it’s more often closet doors off their tracks, a door that drags on new flooring, or baseboards damaged on move-in day.

FAQ
Yes. Tell us whether it’s a slab or a pre-hung door and the size of the opening. A slab needs hinge mortises and a latch bored; a pre-hung door comes in its own frame.
We repair and adjust exterior doors and replace weatherstripping, thresholds and hardware. Replacing a full exterior door and frame is a bigger job; ask and we’ll tell you honestly whether it suits a handyman visit.
Usually. Many standard profiles are still made. If yours is unusual, we’ll suggest the closest match or replace a full room so it’s consistent.
Yes, if you like. We can install, fill, caulk and paint in the same booking, so it’s finished when we leave.
